OFFICE OF GROUND WATER TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM NO. 87.02
Subject: PUBLICATIONS--Release of two new reports entitled,
"Application of Seismic-Refraction
Techniques to Hydrologic Studies" and
"Application of Seismic-Refraction Methods
in Ground-Water Modeling Studies in
New England" both by F. P. Haeni
The first report, "Application of Seismic-Refraction Techniques to
Hydrologic Studies," has recently been printed as Open-File Report
84-746, pending formal publication as a chapter in the U.S.
Geological Survey Techniques of Water-Resources Investigation
series. This report describes the many possible hydrologic uses
of this surface-geophysical technique as well as a methodology for
field operations, data collection, and interpretation of the data.
The second report, "Application of Seismic-Refraction Methods in
Ground-Water Modeling Studies in New England," demonstrates how
this geophysical technique can be used in ground-water modeling
studies.
Both of the above reports are attached and are being distributed
to all District and State offices. We recommend that the reports
be made available to all ground-water hydrologists. Because the
Open-File Report will be formally published at a later date, we
request that any error, omission, or misprint be brought to the
attention of Pete Haeni of the New England District.
